Black Lives Matter.
White people, we have work to do- in ourselves, in our communities, and at work.
Listen and learn (without putting an extra burden on people of color). There are lots of antiracism resources out there- this fantastic collection is a great starting point.
And speak up. I know speaking up is not enough- it needs to be accompanied by real action- but it’s a start.
If you’re a white person thinking about speaking up at work for the first time, either because you’re new to this or it’s scary or you have encountered resistance or all of the above, be in touch.
If you’re a white person who has taken some initial steps and now needs to go bigger to influence your workplace, be in touch. (I’m there too)…
Be in touch. I’m not an expert, but I’d love to be a support or thought partner to you.
(And if you’re a person of color, and you have white colleagues coming to you for support and advice to help them speak up at work, feel free to send them my way.)
